On 19th June 2010, even though the sun was shining, at least one of the stalls at Uplyme Village Fete was a bit wet. When our creative vicar, Gavin Tyte, our zany Head of the Youth Team, Irve Griffiths and Sue Wells, one of our enthusiastic and imaginative Church Wardens, talked together the result was an lively idea for collecting money for the youth community in Uplyme: a chance to throw wet sponges at our vicar and our youth leader. How could people resist! So far so good. Russell Kingsbury used his expertise to construct a very stable stocks set up, which Terry Daly painted beautifully. Sue organized the signs and sold the idea to dozens of customers waiting to have a go. Today is the day of Uplyme Village fete, and it is with mixed feelings that I make my way down to the village green. My daughter, Rowena, is one of the Fayre Princesses and will be arriving in a Bentley with Paul Atterbury from the Antiques Roadshow. The course will be for anyone from Uplyme of other churches who wish to be equipped to Continue reading Pioneer Disciple Course Sidmouth Gospel Choir are coming to Uplyme Church on Sunday 4th July at 6pm. http://www.sidmouthgospelchoir.co.uk/ Every Saturday from 9am to 10.30am, through the summer months, the Axmouth Church Community serve barbecued breakfasts in the campsite opposite St Michael’s Church buiding.
