Uplyme Church

10am

A Sunday gathering for all ages. Children welcome.

6pm

A more traditional Sunday gathering.

Vision Day (draft)

At the Church Vision Day we looked at how the church building was used as a place for:

  1. Worship
  2. Prayer
  3. Meeting
  4. Learning

Despite the focus of the Vision Day being about the use of the building, a good deal of the discussion centered around the style of worship in the church, and there was a little discussion centered around the mission of the church.  All these ideas and opinions will be discussed and considered, however, for this document, we will be looking at the primary focus of the Vision Day, and that is the church building.

Flower Power!

The Uplyme Church Flower Festival is this weekend.  See what you’re missing!

Incredible turnout for Uplyme Gospel Choir

When we had the idea for an Uplyme Gospel Choir, I guessed that perhaps 10 people would turn up.  On Wednesday night, 46 people turned up to sing – and it was amazing!  Led by Pete Linnet and Andy Hague, we sang three songs and had a wonderful time.  We agreed to meet

Here is a link to the two songs we are going to practice for our first Gospel Choir taster evening.  They reside in the Resources > Gospel Choir section of the web site.

Pattern of Services...

From September, we are consolidating our Sunday gatherings!  Each Sunday there will be two services.

10am – Family Worship

This is a church gathering for all ages.  There will be more contemporary music and an interactive talk.  Twice a month the worship will be all-age and twice a month there will be groups for children.  There will also be a creche (parent supervised).

6pm – Evening Worship

This is a quieter, more contemplative gathering.  It will feature more traditional organ and choir-led music, and be an opportunity for in-depth teaching.  Twice a month there will be a communion.

Vision Day

Nearly 60 people turned up for the Uplyme Church Vision Day today.  Actually, it was a bit less of a Vision Day and more of a Vision afternoon!

A deeper sadness…

As the stand-off with the wanted gunman Raoul Moat came to an end in the early hours of the morning, a lady overheard some of the negotiations and heard Raoul say, “I haven’t got a dad.  Nobody cares about me.”  Perhaps it was said as a spiteful retort, but perhaps it revealed a
