Pakistan Floods Appeal

Hundreds of thousands of people in Pakistan have been devastated by the worst floods in the country’s history.

The death toll already stands at 1,600, with up to 14 million people affected.  Tens of thousands of people are injured and homeless. And floods are an ideal breeding ground for water-borne diseases such as cholera.  Communities

Uplyme young people have fun at Holiday Club

The 4th to 6th August saw a lively lot of children in a variety of activities at Uplyme Village Hall. It was the annual Summer Holiday Club run by Uplyme Church for the community.  Our thanks must go to Helen Tweedale for her wonderfully encouraging organisation, to Sue Wells for all her support and help, and to Irve Griffiths and Nigel Riddle for infecting it with their great spirit of fun and creativity.  We were also blessed with skills from a variety of volunteer helpers including some very able teenagers who added to the success of the event, not forgetting the many volunteers who supplied buns and cakes and the wonderful barbeque led by Alan and Esther. Thank you!

More Tea Vicar?

Being a beatboxer (urban vocal percussionist) and a vicar, I regularly get approached by the media to do slots on television and for the national newspapers.  Unless it is associated with a particular event at which I am performing, or I know the journalist, I keep my head down and avoid the limelight.  Why?  Because the motive behind a story about me is not really about me at all, but is about making money or success for someone else, but more than that, my job is all about pointing people to God, not me!

Presenting the message...

Just about everyone in the parish knows that vicars only work on Sundays (joke) and that I am a half-time vicar.  But what am I doing for the other half of my time?
