This week I have been reflecting on our weekly readings Luke Chapter 15:1-10 and 1 Timothy Chapter 1:12-17. The first reading contains Jesus’ parables of the lost coin and the lost sheep and the second reading is Paul telling us how he, the worst of sinners, was redeemed. What do these stories tell us about the heart of God? If I’m honest, the stories leave me feeling ashamed, naked, and exposed…
The church has often been perceived as asking for money. You see those giant appeal thermometers outside church buildings asking for money to repair steeples, ancient organs, and so on. But I wonder if the church should be seeking to bless the community and not take from it. This October, there are a number of ways in which you can receive a blessing from the church or join in with the church in blessing others.
