More Tea Vicar?

Dear Friends

It is a funny thing, what some non-Christians think about what some Christians think about stuff.  I mean, I am frequently amazed and shocked to discover someone thinking something about Christianity or thinking I believe something or adhere to some doctrine or other.  If I am honest, once I have picked

More Tea Vicar?

Being a beatboxer (urban vocal percussionist) and a vicar, I regularly get approached by the media to do slots on television and for the national newspapers.  Unless it is associated with a particular event at which I am performing, or I know the journalist, I keep my head down and avoid the limelight.  Why?  Because the motive behind a story about me is not really about me at all, but is about making money or success for someone else, but more than that, my job is all about pointing people to God, not me!

Presenting the message...

Just about everyone in the parish knows that vicars only work on Sundays (joke) and that I am a half-time vicar.  But what am I doing for the other half of my time?

Uplyme Village Fete

On 19th June 2010, even though the sun was shining,  at least one of the stalls at Uplyme Village Fete was a bit wet.  When our creative vicar, Gavin Tyte, our zany Head of the Youth Team, Irve Griffiths and  Sue Wells, one of our enthusiastic and imaginative Church Wardens, talked  together the result was an lively idea for collecting money for the youth community in Uplyme: a chance to throw wet sponges at our vicar and our youth leader.   How could people resist! So far so good.  Russell Kingsbury used his expertise to construct a very stable stocks set up, which Terry Daly painted beautifully.  Sue organized the signs and sold the idea to dozens of customers waiting to have a go.

Who am I?

Every so often you come across a quote that somehow lodges itself in your heart.  This quote from Monica Furlong does just that, and it is for this reason that I share it with you.
