Many of you have asked for a copy of Morag’s talk from Sunday, so here it is. Enjoy!
If you hadn’t noticed our current teaching series is on Women in the Bible, and this week we come to Mary of Bethany. Mary was the sister of Martha and Lazarus and they lived in Bethany. The two Bible readings that we are going to focus on are Luke 10:38-42 and John 12:1-8. (If you would also like the read the account of Lazarus being raised from the dead you can read John 11:1-44.) There is a theme that I would like to draw out of the two similar stories of Mary and this theme is Identity – it is a window on the gospel, a perspective on the redeeming nature of God. For those that missed it, here is last Sunday’s teaching and notes: 5. Time for a story… (PDF) Gavin has created a new page in the Resources section of the website. This has the resources for our current teaching series for anyone who wants more information. The notes from Gavin’s talks will be posted on there (as PDFs) too.
